With various kinds of blog became a very common stuff for many corporations, the acceptance of web citizens all around the cyber-space and of course the online component turn to be a more and more important part in our both working and leisure time, business managers starts a weblog to publish some vital information or declare announcements, it seems like almost all the internet magnate have their blogs, for instance, Google’s Offical blog (黑板报 for China); Flickr blog (banned in China mainland); Twitter blog (Also banned in China mainland), and I can cite countless blogs like these.
One thing I noticed is even most the internet company have built their on-line blog to improve the products and services, this didn’t happen in the China mainland, I’m not sure the reason is Chinese IT participators are lack of Originality and creativity or not, they just copy, copy and paste. I’m not a long-time observer, but from BBS, search engine to SNS, mini blogs, diggs or RSS readers, we Chinese are really good at imitating. The only exception maybe Douban.com, and we all know Douban has a blog, and Douban.com is running pretty good. Wait, it seems we in identify the IT company by it’s with or without blog. LOL.
Ok, seriously, I do believe blogs like these could help the business, the users could notify the very first hand information so that they could keep up with the latest lab application and give the developers some really useful feedback. But as Youku, as a very ordinary Chinese netizen, all I can see is maybe Youku is working on some news stuff and presenting some perfunctory stuff for some English-speaking guys. Honestly, I didn’t even subscribe the youku buzz’s feed, I do enjoy a website could offer some videos hardly to find and convent enough not to wasting time download, but I’m not idle enough to watch the buzz, since youku haven’t much things on the SNS function to increase stickiness, and many time it is slower than youtube.
Not sure what kind PR job Steven Lin did in the new company, seems some kind of international stuff, but I’m sure whenever the VC is still there, even in the dog-eat-dog youtube-like domain in china are getting more and more tough during the economic crisis, Youku will need young men like Lin.
As suggestions 4 youku buzz, I don’t know the code thing and dada-bass thing, all are from a extremely common web user.
1): The layout is not cool, just like youku.
2): I cannot see the common small icons like digg or delicious etc.
3): Be more interactive will always be a trump.
If youku buzz is a product, I‘m sure I’m a little confused what can it bring to youku, even Japanese cannot watch youku legally.
